Professor Hongfang Jin works in Children’s Medical Center, Peking University First Hospital. She is a distinguished professor of the Changjiang Scholar Program of the Ministry of Education, a recipient of Excellent Youth fund of National Natural Science Foundation, and National Youth Top-notch Talent Support Program. She is a chairman of Cardiovascular Committee of World Chinese Pediatrician Association and vice-chairman of Chinese Pediatric Cardiology Society, Chinese Medical Association. She has been honored with two scientific and technological awards as the first contributor. She achieved a series of innovative findings in the field of gastransmitters and cardiovascular regulation. She is the first to discover and propose that endogenous sulfur dioxide is a new gasotransmitter for cardiovascular regulation, revealing a new mechanism for cardiovascular diseases and pioneering the new field of endogenous sulfur dioxide biology. Moreover, She discovered new underlying diseases of pediatric syncope, put up corresponding diagnostic techniques and protocols, proposed individualized treatment strategies for children with syncope, and chaired two international guidelines for the diagnosis and treatment of pediatric syncope, promoting clinical progress of pediatric syncope and related functional cardiovascular diseases.
