
Professor Junbao Du works in Children’s Medical Center, Peking University First Hospital. He is a distinguished professor of Changjiang Scholar Program of the Ministry of Education, National Outstanding Youth Scientist, Young and Middle-aged Expert with Outstanding Contributions recognized by the Ministry of Health, and Expert Awarded with Special Government Allowance from the State Council. Moreover, Prof Du is a world’s top 2% scientist and highly cited Chinese researcher. Also, he serves as a member of the Asia-Pacific Society of Pediatric Cardiology, chairman of Committee of Pediatric Cardiology, College of Cardiaovascular Physicians, Chinese Medical Doctor Association, and chairman of Committee of Pediatric Syncope, College of Pediatricians, Chinese Medical Doctor Association. He has been honored with 7 scientific and technological awards as the first contributor. His research direction focuses on the basic and clinical studies of cardiovascular diseases. He has successfully treated a large number of pediatric intractable and critical cases, chaired and developed more than 10 international and national guidelines/expert consensuses for the diagnosis and treatment of pediatric cardiovascular diseases, significantly improving the diagnosis and treatment of pediatric cardiovascular diseases. He was the first to reveal the pathophysiological significance of endogenous hydrogen sulfide, proposing that the imbalance of the endogenous hydrogen sulfide system was an important pathogenesis of cardiovascular diseases. He also revealed that vasoactive small molecules, as biomarker molecules, had important clinical translational significance for the clinical diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular diseases, promoting basic-clinical translation.
