
Dr. Guisong Wang is Professor and chief physician of internal medicine at department of cardiology of Peking University Third Hospital and serves as the director of coronary artery disease center. He completed his medical degree at Peking University Health Science Center. His patient care emphasis is in coronary artery disease, hypertension, dyslipidemia and heart failure. His subspecialty has been focused on coronary angiography and percutaneous coronary intervention(PCI) and he is good at performing PCI procedures of complex coronary diseases in left main coronary arteries, bifurcations or chronic total occlusions. He is a member of the Chinese Society of Cardiolgy, Fellow of the American College of Cardiology, Fellow of Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions and a Fellow of the European Society of Cardiology. He worked as a visiting scholar at Vaderbilt University Medical Center from April 2007 to April 2008. His research intrest is focused on cardioprotection of ischemic postconditioning and pharmacological postconditioining in basic and clinical settings of ischemic heart disease. His studies in this area has been supported by The National Natural Science Foundation of China and The Scientific Research Foundation for the Returned Overseas Chinese Scholars, State Education Ministry. In collaboration with Professor Subramaniam Pennathur from University of Michigan, he has been working on a translational study about dysfunctional HDL and cardiovascular diseases.They sought to determine if atherogenic proteins are associated with HDL isolated from humans with established coronary artery disease irrespective of HDL level. He has over 50 journal publications.
